When to use Post Lights and when Path Lights
Post lights are the choice when there are no walls where to install the luminaires and to illuminate large areas. Post-top lights are preferred to illuminate lawns, gardens, roads, and sidewalks. A well-illuminated area will dissuade criminal activity near your property while providing security to the neighbors. Post lights heights range from 10Ft to 20Ft and from 30 Watt to 150 Watt depending on the height of the pole and the distance between poles.
Select Bollards as Path lights to illuminate a smaller area and follow the winding path without illuminating people's faces, other than by reflection. Path lights are normally 1Ft to 3Ft height and from 10 Watt to 30 Watt of power.
Select the style for your post lights
LEDRADIANT offers a wide variety of light posts that will illuminate your lawn, roadways, walkways and surroundings. Select a traditional or modern design, from acorn or lantern or geometric shapes like hourglass, square, cone or round shape.

LED post lights vs metal halide
Traditionally, metal halide bulbs with ballasts were used for many years. This technology uses 4 to 5 times more energy than current LED post lights and requires changing parts very often.
LED post lighting uses a fraction of the energy and requires zero to very little maintenance. Replacing old technology post lights with new LED post lighting will provide more light at a lower cost even though the initial cost of the fixtures is comparable to buying parts to repair the old lights.
Post Lights and Path lights are an excellent choice for lawn aesthetics
New designer post lights will illuminate your property and illuminate paths. Post lights are the best solution for illuminating your lawn or highlighting your landscape after dusk. In addition to enhancing the appearance of your property, post lights serve as an efficient deterrent against criminal activity.
Solar powered or hardwired post lights?
At Ledradiant we carry a variety of solar and hard-wired post-top lights. Your choice will depend on the availability of power. Solar-powered lights are not a magic solution. The selection of the right solar-powered LED fixture will depend on the geo-location which will determine the weather and the minimum hours of productive solar light to recharge the unit.
We have some solar-powered post lights that are managed by a microcontroller, thus everything necessary is integrated into the fixture. When using solar-powered lighting it is important to make an engineering evaluation before deciding to keep the cost reasonable without compromising the life span of the product, the battery and proper functioning.
Popular solar-powered light posts do not require any direct wire for installation. Solar-powered lampposts can be installed anyplace on your property where the sun can power the light bulb. Solar lighting provides limitless location options and requires no current electrical wiring.
Photocell-equipped post lights are an ideal choice for automatic lighting systems. Photocells are a circuit component utilized in " dusk to dawn" lighting installations. A photocell responds to the ambient light around it and automatically turns on or off, or adjusts the intensity of its lighting based on the surrounding brightness levels.

Mounts for Post Top Lights
Post lights are mounted usually on 3-inch diameter cylindrical poles, but can also be mounted on other pole sizes. Select the correct mounting diameter to make the installation easier.
Path Lighting
If your property has a path that leads to the entrance, consider adding path lights as this is the first impression perceived by a visitor, so make it a very good one. A well-lit path will not only create a welcoming atmosphere for guests, but it will also direct them safely to your entrance.
Where Should The Path Lights Be Positioned?
Before purchasing path lights, it is advisable to determine the ideal number of fixtures. A shorter bollard will illuminate only about 10 feet away and around while a taller one can extend the lighted area to 20-25Ft. Install the bollards about 6 inches to a foot from the pathway and distribute them according to the path shape. Some people prefer to install them alternatively while other people prefer to install them only on one side of the pathway.
